Welcome to
‘Le Coeur de Cazouls’
Ira & Cathey Faro welcome you to 'Le Coeur de Cazouls', your self-catering vacation rental
home in the Languedoc.
" We hope that you enjoy your visit to Cazouls as much as we enjoy our visits. We would like
you to think of 'Le Coeur' as your home as well as ours, so be as comfortable as you would in
your own home, being respectful of the house, your neighbours and the neighbourhood."
Cazouls-les-Beziers is one of the 25 medieval
‘circular’ villages in the Department of Herault,
steeped in more than 1,000 years of history!
Ideally situated midway between the beautiful
Languedoc National Park and the wonderful
Mediterranean coastline with endless stretches
of golden child-friendly beaches, this is an
ideal base to discover why this area is fast
taking over from Provence as the most popular
in France.
The village has all amenities; bakery, supermarket, newsagent, café bar, restaurants and a
great wine cave. There is a traditional street market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Just down the road (4 km) is a wonderful stretch of freshwater swimming in the Orb River. It is
hugely popular in the summer. Alternatively, at Reals(8 km) there is canoeing and kayaking as
well as further swimming.
Languedoc is the finest winetasting area in the world. Visit the famous town of St. Chinian and
any one of the many local vineyards. There is also a superb wine ‘warehouse’ in the village
itself, not to be missed.
No visit to the Department of Herault should be complete without a visit to the pretty village of
Roquebrun (described by one writer as ‘Little Nice’).
Nearby, Gorge D’Heric, offers walkers a stunning experience climbing the ‘sabre slash’
between the Mountains Espinouse and Caroux – don’t worry, the footpath has been
landscaped for you convenience!
Mediterranean beaches lie just 20 - 25 minutes from the village. Valras Plage has vast sandy
beaches and an array of pavement café and bars, great seafood (and other) restaurants, pretty
harbour and traditional street market (Friday). Children will love the huge Ice-Cream Parlour
on the seafront! Less crowded Serignan Plage or Vendres Plage offer further sandy stretches.
Béziers (only 7 minutes away) is a wonderful town with a spectacular cathedral and wonderful
views over the surrounding countryside from the hilltop. There is a huge choice of restaurants
and pavement cafés in Beziers. Find the superb daily food market in the covered ‘Les Halles’
(except Monday) and probably the best flower market in the south of France in the beautiful
tree-lined boulevard named ‘Allees Paul Riquet’ each and every Friday. (Note: Ira and Cathey
often visit ‘Les Halles’ in Narbonne, a town worth a visit on its own. )
There are many cultural events and concerts. Don’t miss the 4-day street party ‘Féria’ which
takes place in August. No trip to Beziers is complete without taking in some stretch of the
pretty ‘Canal du Midi’ during your visit.
Golfers can enjoy the course at the St.Thomas Club. Along the coast, Cap d’Agde has the
huge water park ‘Aqualand’, boat trips, casino, and fashionable shopping, waterside
restaurants and nightclubs, plus the popular Naturist beach is nearby for those inclined. There
are great day trips to the unmissable ancient City of Carcassonne in neighbouring Aude, and
the Pont du Gard due northeast from here. The border with Spain is just 2 hours away - go
skiing in the Pyrenees, sunbathe on the Costa Brava or have a weekend in Barcelona.
For days when you stay in, satellite TV is available. Hundreds of ‘Free to Air’ channels can be
received including BBC and CNN, sports and channels for the kids.
